Cane reeds are beautiful, but highly sensitive to moisture, a major challenge with mouthblown smallpipes. If a cane reed absorbs too much moisture, it can quickly deteriorate, affecting sound and tuning, and causing ongoing replacement costs. The ROSSA synthetic reed solves this problem. Single replacement cane chanter reed for mouhtblown and bellows blown Fred Morrison Reelpipes. This is the same reed supplied with new Reelpipes.  Made in the UK by G1 Reeds.

Handmade with meticulous care, this cane smallpipe reed is wonderfully resonant and vibrant. We really like it. This is an excellent reed for McCallum Smallpipes (bellows and mouthblown) and McCallum Folk Pipes. It also performs well in Tidy Cottage, Moor, Bantam, Evans, and Ross smallpipe chanters, according to the reedmaker.

MG Cane Smallpipe Chanter Reed - A
 
Cane chanter reeds can really enhance the sound of your Scottish smallpipes, although they are a slightly larger investment and require a bit more care. The MG reed is compatible with McCallum and Shepherd Smallpipes in the key of A, but it is not for use with Walsh or Gibson smallpipes.* This is a delicate reed, so use caution when inserting the chanter into the stock. It is also moisture-sensitive, although this is not much of an issue with the McCallum smallpipes, which have a moisture control system. Made in Scotland.
