RT Shepherd originated as Bob Shepherd’s reed-making business in 1966, and the Shepherd reed remains a top choice today. The Shepherd pipe chanter has also been hugely influential, as have products like their Tone Enhancers. Shepherd bagpipes are made in Cardenden, north of Edinburgh, with truly classic styles.
