Tapered Reamer

The T-handle tapered reamer is used for widening the diameter of the blowpipe opening to accomodate a Little Mac valve and for enlarging drone reed seats.

The Thumb Stop can help improve Birls, Taorluaths, B strikes and grace notes. By keeping the thumb of your right hand directly behind the middle finger, you will train your thumb to stay in position. Once the thumb is trained to stay in place, the Thumb Stop can be removed. It can be used on both Polypenco practice and pipe chanters. Caution:  We recommend that the Thumb Stops be used only on Polypenco (plastic) pipe and practice chanters, as they could damage wood chanters.

With 10 refill packets, you'll have a spare at the ready whenever your Tone Protector requires one. 84% is the recommended humidity pack replacement for Tone Protector Reed Protectors. Be sure to keep the replacements in a tightly sealed bag, so they remain active. To install the packet, squeeze the soft rubber body of the Tone Protector and remove the digital cap. Then, fold and wrap the 2-way packet in the interior channel. Packets will last longer in moist climates and when the pipes are played frequently.

Features of the Tone Protector:

The molded B Flat Shepherd Pipe Chanter Reed is perfectly suited to the Shepherd B Flat Orchestral Pipe Chanter, and is also compatible with other B Flat chanters. Standard reeds will also work in B Flat chanters, but this reed is more plug-and-play. Using a B Flat chanter reed is not enough to make a standard pitch chanter perform in B Flat. However, this reed may also be a good fit for pre-1970's vintage flatter chanters. Made in Scotland with Shepherd technical precision and consistency.
