Gannaway's Care & Maintenance Instructions:
"The best way to test a Gannaway Pipe bag for tightness, is to put rubber stoppers in the stocks and blow it up as tight as possible. Wait for one minute. If it is still tight or takes just a little puff of air, it requires no treatment. In many cases all that is necessary is a quarter of a cup of water poured into the bag to re-activate the dressing that is already there. Tip out any surplus water. Do not over dress Gannaway Pipe bags, it will shorten their life."
"When in dry conditions it is necessary to check the bag every two or three weeks and dress the bag as required. Use our Highlander Dressing or a glycerine-based dressing only. Glycerine attracts moisture and having it inside the bag means it takes the moisture from the air to the wall of the bag where it can be dispensed through the leather. Where pipes are being blown for longish periods in wet conditions, the bag will take up a lot of moisture. In this situation the outside of the bag will become damp."
