The Highland Bagpipe Tutor Book is "A Step by Step Guide as Taught by the National Piping Centre." Printed in full color and organized clearly, the spiral-bound book is appealing to young beginners and adults. The modern program is detailed and thorough, taking students beyond other introductory tutors. The book contains 50+ exercises, some basic information about starting on the pipes, and 30+ tunes. The CDROM has printable versions of the tunes and exercises, and they can also be played as audio files with a bouncing ball feature that helps students to follow along. The tempo can even be changed to make the exercises more challenging. There are video clips of all 56 exercises--a very helpful feature. Instructors will enjoy the printable pieces and teacher resources, like progress report sheets.
