The books are more in depth than other instruction manuals and focus on mastering the basics before moving on. Because of this, these tutors move more slowly than others, but this also makes them better suited to beginners learning on their own. John Cairns, the author, suggests that if you practice for 60 minutes every day, the goals of each volume can be achieved in 1 month. So, this package of the first 3 volumes will see you through 3 months. It's not until the 3rd volume that you'll be supplied with a complete tune, but when you get there, you'll have developed a strong foundation. A companion CD is included with each book, so you can hear exercises and instruction.
